The numbers on this design reflect real 2026 legislative activity. As of May 1, the Brennan Center reported that lawmakers in at least 41 states had considered at least 302 bills with restrictive voting provisions.  The National Conference of State Legislatures also reported that 11 states introduced legislation to create state-level voting rights acts in 2026.
